"Wife Canadian Citizen I am not"

My wife is a Canadian Citizen living with me in the U.S. In moving to Canada under a permanent residence skilled worker, does this entitle me to exemptions, or penalize me for any fees? We were married in New York City, NY.

In the case of a Canadian citizen sponsoring a spouse, an application can be initiated while you remain abroad. This assumes that your sponsor can demonstrate an imminent intent to relocate to Canada.

Otherwise, a typical requirement for eligibility in the Family Class is that the sponsor reside in Canada. There are no penalties associated with such a case.
