"inquiry"
Dear David,
While there are lots of wanted ads for nurses on every
Canada job sites, still the door for nurses remain closed.
I'm a Registered Nurse who wants to continue my nursing
career in Canada. My husband is an Executive Assistant. Preli-
minary assessment given on our account showed that none of us
could be considered as principal applicant for skilled worker
category.
Do you think I would be considered if I apply as care-giver instead of my present working status as a nurse?
I've written to the Alberta Association of Registered
Nurses Association and they have sent me forms to fill up for
registration. Right now I'm in the process of completing my cre-
dentials for submission.
Thank you very much and more power.
Malyn

1. "RE: inquiry"
You are correct. Most provinces in Canada are presently severely short of qualified nursing staff. Unfortunately, however, the selection criteria does not reflect this shortage, and nurses must generally possess arranged employment in order to be considered eligible.

In order to be eligible as a live-in-caregiver, you must possess a job offer as well, unfortunately. If such an offer is obtained, and you meet the other requirements, then it is possible to qualify as such.

2. "RE: possibility of modifying the occupation list"
Dear David,
Is there any possibility that the occupation list will be
modified in the next few months?
Judging from what you said that there is severe shortage of
qualified nursing staff in most provinces, don't you think
that this is one serious point to consider?

I hope the commission will consider adding nursing to their
list of wanted occupation in Canada.

Thanks,
Malyn

3. "RE: possibility of modifying the occupation list"
It is impossible to say with any certainty as to whether or not the occupations list will be made to reflect this shortage.
