"Question"

What areas do the FBI clearance checks cover? Does it cover immigration status in the US? Does the canadian immigration process require submission of proof of current immigration status in the US?

The Canadian immigration authorities may ask for proof of status in the US. Applicants who are in the US illegally may have their permanent residence applications refused on "criminal grounds". Some leniency may be shown to applicants who are "in-between" status, i.e. have applications for renewed status pending.
