"Marriage in canada"
My fiance is a Canadian citizen, and we would ike to get married, howver I do meet the requirements to immigrate to Canada. Howevr 4 years ago i was convicted for shoplifting which i deeply regret, being my firt offence I received a fine, would this stop me from immigrating to Canada.

Criminal inadmissibility is determined by the Canadian equivalent of the foreign offence. Depending on the severity of that Canadian equivalent, an applicant may be deemed to succeed in an application for criminal rehabilitation to be considered admissible.

As Canada's laws do not have separate offences for shoplifting and thefts of larger amounts, such shoplifting offences, even for very minor amounts, will typically result in the requirement for a criminal rehabilitation application.
