"...Fiance Sponsorship Question..."

I hope that someone can answer this for me.
My fiance in Canada recently applied to sponsor me
as her fiance. I live in the US. I am concerned
because in the application is says for me to list
all of my debts, and after having lost my job almost
a year ago I now have bad credit and have been
sent collection agencies. Will my list of debts (over $15,000 US)influence the decision of the immigration visa officers?
And also, is there a credit check performed by the immigration officials? I'll be gratefull for any info, Thanks, Miggy

Yes, the size of your debt could negatively affect your immigration application. We would recommend that you take whatever steps possible to manage your debt and be prepared to document your efforts for the immigration officials.

False information on your immigration application can result in the refusal of your application or in your removal from Canada.
