"police records"

   Hello,

I applied for immigration to canada in March 2001 in buffalo. Being a citizen of india, I was told not to obtain a police record. They will do it on my behalf. Now, I was a student in the US from 1996 to 2000 but never lived there for 6 months at a stretch. They have not requested for for a police record from the US. Now after I graduted in May 2000, I worked in the US (different state) for a year and then got a temperory work permit for Canada. I am currently working in Canada. Do I need to send them FBI and RCMP clearances or wait for them to ask and then send?

Thanks,

Ved

You will need to obtain an FBI clearance certificate as you have lived in the US for more than 6 months total. You will also need an RCMP clearance, but you cannot obtain it without a letter from the Immigration Processing Centre, which they will send you.
