i have completed my interview at chc new delhi, in june 01. i was told that medicals will come before december and the visa not earlier than may.i have not heard since.

waiting for this i am not able to put other local plans in place.

In our experience, the security background checks for applicants within India usually take an average of approximately 6 months. The precise time can vary greatly, however, depending upon the applicant's background, as well as how many different regions of the world that applicant has lived within, in the past. (In fact it is not unheard of for the security background check phase to last upwards of 18 months, although that is not common, and appears to be a maximum.)

In your particular case a status inquiry may be in order. When sending a status inquiry, a RELIABLE response FAX# can be indicated on the inquiry, in order to save time when waiting for the Canadian Government to respond. (ie: a response by fax will often arrive quicker than a response by mail.)
