"passport question"

   Dear Mr. Cohen

I'm Peruvian and my fiancee is Canadian. We're getting married and applying for PR within Canada on April.
Does it matters that my passport expires on Nov. 2002? (there's a chance that it might expire while my PR application is in process...if it takes more than 6 months)
Would it be necessary for me to get a new passport before starting the process?

Thank you in advance. :)

In our experience an application can be submitted to the Canadian Government, even though the passport is due to expire very shortly. A note indicating that the passport will either be renewed, or a new passport will be obtained, should be included with the application.

Once a new passport has been obtained, or the old passport renewed, then a copy of such should be sent to the processing center.
