"Delays for interview at Ankara post!!"

Me and my wife had applied from the immigration post in Ankara, Turkey in November 1999. At that timee, the time frame was 6-8 months. Then the time period changed to 12 - 18 months and finally now to 24 months. Now even the 24 months are over and we still have not recieve any intimation for the interview or otherwise.
We are frustrated and dont know what to do. What could be the reason and what is the best way to check where our case is?

Also, how long can it really take? Is it a good idea to transfer our case to the US as we are now in US? Pls advise. We are really looking forward to some sort of reponse.

To answer this question, we would need to know precisely what kind of correspondence you have received from the Canadian Embassy in Ankara to date.

If you have not yet received any correspondence from the Canadian Embassy in Ankara, (or if the only correspondence you have thus far received is the AOR: Acknowledgement of Receipt) then a request for a status update on your file is certainly in order.

In general it is not a good idea to send repeated requests for status updates to the Canadian Government, as that could reflect negatively on the applicant. But in extreme cases such as these, or in cases in which deadlines have passed, and no correspondence has been received from the Canadian Government, then a status update is certainly in order.

To help in your decision about whether or not to transfer your file to the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo, NY, USA, we can advise you of the latest processing times, based upon our experiences. (Note that when a file is transferred, the files starts at the beginning in terms of processing time at the new post.)

In our experience, the current processing time for the Canadian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, is 2 to 3 years (with the average being aproximately 29 months), for applicants currently living and working within that region.

On the other hand, the current processing time for the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo, NY, is 10 to 18 months, for applicants who are currently living and working within the USA region.

Thank you for your reply Mr. Cohen..

Just need to clear some things here. I have not recieved anything from Ankara except the AOR. Secondly, I am a resident of Pakistan. Is the delay for people applying from Pakistan the same? If longer, then how long.

How long does the file transfer process take from Ankara to Buffalo?

Thanks in advance.
