"Process duration at Buenos Aires, Argentina"
Dear Sirs:
We filed our application at Buenos Aires, Argentina, consular office last august. We presented all documentation required, and are quite sure we fully qualify. As we have kids attending school (K-12), we'll appreciate your opinion about time frames. Do you think visa issuance (providing application is aproved) would allow them to timely attend to school in Canada next september 2001? If not, is it advisable to use our visitors visas so they can begin studying while we wait the PR process conclusion? Thanks a lot for your insight.
JeyCe

We would expect a time frame, on average, of 16-18 months. The circumstances of the case, however, would be a significant factor which may affect such.

Although we would expect landing documents to be issued in time of the 2001 school year, you could keep a contingency plan to apply for a student authorization three months in advance in the event that delays are incurred.

You can apply for permanent resident status and temporary status at the same time (dual intent). Doing so will not harm your application for permanent resident status. However, your application for temporary status may be affected because an impression will have been created that you do not intend to leave Canada upon the expiration of your temporary status. Therefore it is better to apply for temporary status before you apply for your permanent resident status.
