The best method of transferring settlement funds to Canada, is the opening of a bank account in Canada, and the subsequent deposit of funds into that account. The transfer of funds will usually take place in the form of electronic transfer, or bank draft.

If an applicant is unable to open a Canadian Account in advance, however, then the ideal method to carry funds to Canada would be in the form of a bank draft or traveler's checks. (Carrying large amounts of funds in cash while travelling can be risky, due to possible theft, and is thus not recommended.)
