May I know if some of the European offices for processing permanent immigration to Canada are closed due to the aftermath of the Sept. 11 incident, specifically Berlin and the office responsible for applications in Belgium.

The one exception was that of the Canadian processing center in Islamabad, Pakistan, which had temporarily halted the processing of immigration applications, due to the close proximity of the war in neighboring Afghanistan. But that processing center has resumed processing immigration applications.

However, it is expected that, as a direct resulted of September 11th, increased security background checks of applicants may cause delays in some applications.
