"Occupations Lists"

   Hello David,

I've been checking this website for a long time to give me informations regarding migrating to Canada. This is my first time to ask a question. (I just learned now how to post questions )

I'm a B.S. Accountancy graduate, and my work experiences from different companies here in the Philippines are being an Accounting Clerk, Accounts Payable Assistant, and Accounting Associate for more than four (4) years. I'm familiar using computerized Accounting systems.

I would like to ask, What would be the best occupation I can choose from the General Occupation Lists, Accountant or Accounting and Related Clerks? I've seen a lot of Job postings in Canada (thru website) like Accounts Payable Accountant, the work experiences required are the same as my work experiences as Accounting clerk or Accounts Payable Assistant.

I'll wait for your reply.

Thanks and good day!

Eric

Accreditation as a Chartered Accountant is presently specified as a requirement by the National Occupational Classification (NOC) for eligibility as an Accountant. Without such, automatic inadmissibility is a risk. Bookkeeper or Accounting Clerk are alternative options with less strongent education/training requirements, but the points earned by each is too low for most to qualify.

Arranged Employment, however, may allow you to overcome these issues. The new Regulations, once implemented may also benefit your case.
