"Advice required for UK journalist"

   Dear sir,

I am a TV reporter/producer from the UK who's just about to apply as an independent skilled worker. Before I send off the necessary papers/documents I am flying to Toronto to meet some propspective employers. I'm hoping they will write me a letter saying that if I lived there then they would be interested in hiring me. Would this kind of letter carry any weight? Also, is television a bad profession to target because of it's popularity over there as a career?? Any advice on these two matters would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Nick Baker

Having a credible job offer from a Canadian employer can benefit an application, and may enhance the opportunity for an interview waiver in the case. Unless the offer is validated, however, no points would be awarded for such a job offer.

Given that the occupation that you refer to does appear on the General Occupations List, there would be no problem applying as such in the skilled worker program.
