"More medical tests"

   Mr. Cohen,

I am a 30 year old professional who has applied under the skilled worker category to the Buffalo consulate.

I underwent medicals end of August. The tests revealed that I had diabetes. Subsequently, I went to my family physician who conducted a series of tests, confirmed the diagnosis and put me on a drug and diet regimen. Several tests conducted subsequently show that the sugar levels are under control.

I received a letter from the visa office early October asking me to undergo further tests. I understand that the exact details of the test will be available to the DMP only. However, would you be able to give me any indication of my chances for approval?

Thank you.

Most common forms of diabetes are not typically grounds for medical inadmissibility. Determination of such admissibility, however, is made by a Medical Officer in consideration of all available information. It is not possible to absolutely determine this in advance.

If your conditions do not pose a threat of excessive demand of the Canadian health-care system, and do not affect your employability in your field, then they should not be grounds for inadmissibility.

2. "Interview"
In response to message #1

   Dear Dr. Cohen,

I am in a process of applying for immigration to Canada but have a problem of selecting a
place for the interview. I live in Sweden and my wife and our three year old girl live in
Ghana, West Africa. I want to submit my application to the London office and I have been
informed that I can attend the interview here in Sweden but unfortunately my wife cannot
join me in case of an interview. I am wondering if it would be possible to have her
interviewed in Ghana. In any case, they would not accompany me to Canada.
Thank you.
Jak

It would not be possible to have her interview held at a location other than the venue for your own. It may be possible, however, to have her attendance exempted if you can demonstrate that she is unable to attend. Such exemption would have to be requested from the visa office.
