by the way if you check cic website it says 80% of applications are done in 9 months , so if from the day when they started to procees your application , 9 months passed , then you should be thinking twice and follow up. so for now take it easy.

Most of applicants who received pp request had passed 6 months after sending RQ form. I  sent it in August.So, don't worry, the only way is waiting.    You can send an enquiry but usually the response is pre-determined.

Few weeks back I have sent them the copy of my new passport by e-mail. I just scanned the pages and sent them by e-mail. after a week they replied and thanked me to updating the file.

Hello all

My husband is a medical student in canada and a canadian citizen, I am a graduated medical doctor in Iran, we met online Nov 2009 on a medica forum on facebook, He came to Iran to do his international rotation with a letter from his school. We got married in July and applied for sponsership. We got our file number Sept 28, 2010. and then residency questioner OCT 17th and Syria recieved it OCT 20th. He has 20000$ income a year, lives with me now but  going back because he needs to finish his school in march, It been 5 month now and the process 7 month, I am wonderign how much longer do I have to wait, do you guys think I will be going anytime soon, can some one help us.

PS: we inquired about our case 2 month ago, they said is in review, then last month they said the file is assesment. is there a difference between review and assesment.

Hi Guys,

As they say "its not over till the fat lady sings" and in my case she has... My wife FINALLY got her passport request today! Our 10 month struggle is now over. It took Damascus 8 month to finalize.

I am happy it's over but we suffered a lot.

Here is what we did at the end to push them to finalize:

1) wife went to the embassy in person in Jan
2) got my MP to email them (I am kind of lucky that my MP is a vice chair on the committee for immigration)
3) sent an email two days ago stating "URGENT - medical will expire"

Maybe these things helped finalize but I am not sure.

I also ordered her CAIPS notes and noticed that since the last time I heard from them in July, her file was not touched.

A few pointers.. there is no such thing as a queue. As you will notice, people ahead of you will get their visas issued. I believe the way damascus is working is by expiry date of medicals. The closer it is to expiring the more likely they will pick up your file and work on it. In the end, what kept me and wife going was our faith and optimism. Not to mention lots of patience and strength.

In the end, I think Canadians deserve better treatment. Being left in the dark and not knowing should not be taken lightly as it is the number one stressor of most applicants. They need to be more open and transparent as this process is highly sensitive. And oh yes, please hire more officers! Remind me why I pay sooooo much taxes?

Congrats to those before who got their Passport requests and I wish each one of you a speedy process.

Hi AAM7,

Caips is the computer immigration system. All work done on the immigration file is recorded here. As a canadian you have the right to order it from the government to see what is happening. Most people say order it only if you have an interview.
