I had a question.. if my husband is in lebanon and im in canada , canadian citizen.. can i go to lebanon say in april may even tho the file is not done ? or do I need to wait until my husband gets the visa? it's so complicated? help thanks lol

Although they never check but according to the law,citizens can be out of country when they apply and just permanent residents must be in the country when they apply.

Hi all,

My situation is: I came to Canada(Montreal) with a visitor visa, I hired a lawyer to submit my inland sponsorship application(spousal), but unfortunately, I found lately that he didn't submit my application and my Visa was expired.

Now , I am preparing my outland application(/Beirut/Damascus), However I am in Canada without status, and I have some difficulties with filling up the application,

Does anyone of you have like my situation or can help?

Actually, I was thinking of going to the embassy. But it does not seem a rational decision and I agree with your layer. If it helps, everybody will travel to Damascus and it could not be desirable for the embassy. I just wanted to know if you have gone there or not.
Hope your visa comes before Christmas. I have also heard that Damascus during Christmas is highly active and since Syria is an Arabic country they do not have so much vacations except two or three days.

However, if anybody has any experience of going to Damascus please let us know

And by the way regarding the thread . They received my application on november 12th and started processing it november 22nd. After that,since i live in Quebec they requested i fill out the CSQ forms and send them to the govt of quebec. I received a positive response for the acceptance in Quebec  on December 9th and they said that my file is being sent to the office in Beirut

Hi giminebella,
yes you can go and even stay there until the file is done but just in case you should have always the intention to come back and stay in canada with your husband
take along proof of rent, bank, paystubs place of work & recent phone bills and make sure some one in canada keep checking your email/ mail just in case they tried to contact you
Good luck and try to book your ticket from now it is cheaper

transfering the file from canada to damascus and then to beirut will cause 2 months delay this info from my lawyer and from personel experience but it is a personal choice

if he started this way how will he behave/work during the process
find yourself a good lawyer and dont over stay any longer
you are married and your wife has the right to sponsor you as outland

Welcome to the forum.Hopefully your case will be finalized very soon. I believe these processing times are meaningless. It depends how lucky you are. My friend applied in July and she received the passport request yesterday, on the other hand I am waiting here for 9,5 months and still no news!!!!!! I called my lawyer today and asked him is it possible for the case to take more than 10 months (what they mention in their website) he said; "Yes you can be among those people who waits over a year " See numbers are not that important,if you are lucky, you will have it sooner than you expect.

I'm sorry to hear about your lawyer, as Kamal mentioned change your lawyer, try to fill the forms ASAP. I don't know the legal aspects of living in Canada without any status but try to talk to a professional lawyer. There are tricky stuffs,that maybe harm your sponsorship application. docs means the documents that they need and you didnt send or they think you missed to send or just(for most of us) a questionarie form with stupid(sry) questions again

I'm the sponsor. As Arachir mentioned, if you missed sending some documents they will ask for it and for Damascus cases they ask for the questionnaire from all of us. Wish u best of luck.
