i received the approval from cic the 9 of july
they started processing in Damascus the 20 of july
they requested doc the 29 of august
the doc has been sent the 20 of sep
and i am still waiting

Hello all,

well, this is my current situation..

I am a Canadian citizen living in Toronto and recently got married (Katb Ktab) in Jordan this past summer. I had the Application completed (PDF Filled)by me and my wife and didn't leave the littlest detail (Forms, proofs, photos, etc).

Sent the Complete Application to the Mississauga office on Aug.27, 2010 and whcih was approved on Sep.23, 2010. The Application is currently in Damascus as of Oct.04, 2010. They recently requested the completion of the Residency Questionnaire in an email they sent me. I had my wife fax the form and mail as well to them (she is in Jordan).

I called the embassy from Toronto and they wouldn't confirm, search or look into whether they got the fax or not.

Now, I'm in the process of booking my flight to go back to Jordan as well as a Banquette Hall for my wedding ceremony for this December. I know that I'm not suppose to be doing this prior to final approval of my wife's visa, but what can I do. I made a bit!

Any thoughts??!!

happy marriage.there is no reason that you dont want to leave.but how did you asure them of your marriage becasue they need lot of photo from ceremony.

Dear Abdul Abed,
Welcome to the thread and congratulations for your upcoming ceremony.Don't worry at all as you are a Canadian citizen you don't need to be physically present in Canada when you sponsor your spouse.If an applicant is a PR holder he/she must reside in Canada while their case is in process but for Canadian citizen you are not obligated to live in Canada, and even you are able to sponsor your wife when you are outside Canada. I am waiting almost for 8 months the last time I contact CIC they told me because you are a Canadian citizen there is no need for you to be physically present while sponsoring your spouse and you can leave.You can leave Canada for your wedding, there is no problem for that. You should be in Canada when your wife is flying to Canada for the first time.

I am PR and I have been in Iran for around 5 months and then came back to Canada and my wife is in Tehran. So, I have not been in Canada completely during my file process. So, what would happen? Is there possible for delay?

Hi to alll  :

first, i am sorry i haven't update or replyed but i was busy with the immagration office there was some problems but thanks god this all over ...

now for the good news my spouse received his visa today it took them 2 hours from the time he submited his passport tell he pick it up later in the same day "that was fast right loool " this whole wait time just for these 2 hours. alhmed allah its over now ...

I wish and pray for every one to get their visa soon

you should send them an email with the subject URGENT thats what i did because the medical is going to expire soon and the last thing they want for you to repeat your medical .. i feel that your going to get it very soon by next week ... good luck

don't worry every one my husband told me that they are handing alot of visa because when he went to get his visa there was like almost 25 people reciveing their visa at the same time .. that means they are finally catching up ..

The top part of our list is getting almost green there is only 4 of us left, you are right I believe they will contact us shortly but how soon I don't know

The immigration policy is; if you are PR holder you must be present in Canada while your case is in process.Usually the lawyers believe that if you are present in Canada for the first confirmation I mean Mississauga 's letter, it would be fine.Sometimes immigration office will send you a letter and ask you to provide documents that shows you are living in Canada and your intention is to live in Canada after your spouse is here.Now that you are here everything is ok, don't worry even if they ask, you can say that the processing is too long and I prefer to spend this hard time with her and now I am here.There wouldn't be in any problem. My friend just filed the sponsorship application and go back to Iran 6 months later they request for the passport and she came back only two days before his husband arrival so there is no problem.Hopefully everything is ok, and you will have the passport request very soon.

The processing time is something between 6 to 10 months from the very beginning, my lawyer believe that Damascus is cleaning the queues and once they are done with last year application the processing time will comeback to normal 4 to 8 months so if you are the last ones in the list don't worry the processing time is going to shrink to the original time line..Wish you all the best,hopefully this waiting time will be over and all of us will spend this holidays with our loved one.
