Damascus/Spousal since Jan 2010 or late 2009

Greetings to all,
When filing my wife's application I paid the entire fee (applicat fee and landing fee) upfront based on the promise that this will speedup the process by a couple of months. Is this something to count on or is it just another false promise?

it does speed up the process in the way that they dont have to contact you/your wife for the 400$ for the PERMANENT RESIDENCE CARD FEE at the end.
but till then we are all the same haha

if you want to think about it that way its true you cant say it does, but when they have to contact you and ask you for money and by the way they get it you can be behind like 5 weeks..... so even though its not much i mean it still is better to make the full 1040$ at the beginning

I contacted the embassy asking for updates on on my application (trying to sponsor my wife from Lebanon). It is sad that they don't give info over the phone. The situation in Syria is unsafe one and unpredictable. I am wondering if they are going to hire more agents to speed up processing the files. The waiting game is getting me.

yeah the situation in syria isnt too great but its no where close to an emergency, i mean think about it, if you compare it to egypt or libya it took the situation a very long time before they told the embassies to close and in libya most embassies arent even closed now! so we can just hope that it doesnt get worse in syria and that they finish the files up fast...... maybe it might push them to get things done who knows.......

I'm wondering how ppr is sent to the applicant? Is it through mail or email? I am hoping that they also use email and the mail service is not always reliable. Any thoughts?

i dont think situation in syria can affect our  process in any way cause it dose not deal with canadian goverment it is totally a national issue, so lets be positive then positive will occure. inshaallah
