It is true and very sad:( I never would have thought they would do something like this so I guess anything is possible. they said they are still deciding what to do for other immigration categories to ease backlog. hopefully we will all be done with this process before they do anything as drastic to our category!!

They have not spoke about spousal sponsorship yet. And i think that they can not stop family sponsorship cases.

Frankly, I searched cic news section and couldn't find any news in this regard. I think it's not announced officially yet but seems that it's a rumor that might come true (exactly like the closure of Damascus that everyone was talking about and later was announced). Poor skilled worker applicants.

For family sponsorship the possibility is very low. Even the USA which doesn't want immigrants as much as Canada is still providing services to spouse sponsorship cases. For sure, family sponsorship category will be the last category that might be blocked, don't worry about that.

unfortunately it's not rumor but cic didn't put it as news yet cuz the budget was not voted yet....this is included in this year's budget clauses and it is just a matter of days until they vote the budget...and probably they will vote it as it is, without any modifications, since they have majority

Sometimes I feel conservative party members forget that "justice" is a value that should be appreciated!
Among my friends, there are people who applied under skilled worker category and I can understand how devastating will be the consequence of this decision for them.

yeah they always say that they protect and represent Canadian values, but they forgot that fairness, justice is a Canadian value too...i'm sure many Canadians if they would know and understand the whole picture would not agree with this but most of them have no clue of how immigration works

it will b devastating i'm still confused: the ones who did the medicals, paid the rprf fee and were in the final stages - will their applications be returned too (what if they already packed and sold everything in their country) or only the ones who never get any news yet, not even an interview date? really disturbing

anyway, as some lawyer said in that article, in the long run Canada's reputation will b damaged; whoever wants to immigrate there in the future will think twice cuz of all this and probably choose another country, a country where its gouverment does not have the tendency of letting people down

yeah right, as if they would!!! many don't have their position in the current job categories list (which is very restrictive)....even if they would try again they will try in other countries....how will they know for sure that after the 2nd try it won't happen the same??...yeah me too i'm having hard time to digest all, and yeah their purpose is to have less immigrants...we'll keep a close eye when they vote it and if they make any changes
