I called the VO in Ankara, and I asked some questions, and here are the answers: ( The lady was very nice and she said she fully understands the I might be going crazy about the transfer)

Q- did you start working on applications that you received from Damascus yet?
A- they have started working on them just last week but it will take until at least mid-march to give out the first batch of PPR

Q- If my application was sent to Damascus  8 months ago do I have to wait another 5 months ( Turkey Timeline) Does the timeline for me start for the start all over again.
A- No, but you might have to wait 2-3 months.

Q- New application's will it be the time line you have posted on CIC?
A- we will try to make it in 5 months but because there will be very big batch coming to us in the next 2-3 weeks ( Files that are still in Mississauga) you should give it a few more months maybe 6-7 months.

She told me that not to worry, because they are going with the files as fast as possible.

so people who have 10+ months INSHALLA you will be getting your PPR in the next 1-2 months.
BUT the first batch of PPR should be in MID-MARCH.

 what is CAIPS ? how can you check it?

I donno but a friend of mine in DFAIT said its better to order CAIPS after you have gone over the processing time. I mean it's kind of obligatory for us all to wait the 13 mths before we can start harassing the VO lol

CAIPS means: Computer-Assisted Immigration Processing System
"If you feel that there has been an unusually long time since you last heard from the visa office, you might want to get your CAIPS file to understand what the current status of your application is.

Sometimes delays are caused by heavy backlog at the visa office and, although frustrating, checking the CAIPS file at least provides reassurance that the application is on track, however slow the processing."

When is CAIPS NOT Useful?

At most stages of processing, there will be some information in the CAIPS file that is of use to the applicant. However, if you have just applied, it is possible that your CAIPS file is largely blank and will remain so until initial processing (also known as paper screening) takes place. However, it should show the official 'bring forward' date when CIC expects to start the next stage of processing on your file.

File requests are processed by CIC in Ottawa, Canada. Most file requests are processed and the files returned to us in approximately 6 weeks.

Need help!
According to my e-cas, they received my file in May 2011 but since e-cas is not that reliable I'm not sure if my file has ever been received physically by Damascus. (there r people who applied in september and their e-cas was quoting the same statement but later they came to know that their files were kept in mississauga).
Those who have a file number like Arezou (who applied in feb) can be sure that their files were there in damascus but there is no way at the moment that I can learn about my file number.
My question is that do we have anybody in this forum who applied in April/May and received a file number from Damascus? (from Arezou case I can say that those who applied in feb 2011 can be sure that their files were in Damascus, but when it was that cic stopped sending files to Syria? Any clue?)

Ramz's case is a good point that can help you and assure you that the cases were received in May 2011 were really there.

Why do not you try to send them an email and ask about your file? You can do it through Damascus email address too.
