Do you think they give tourist Visa to sponsorship applicants? I have recently sent the application to sponsor my husband in Iran. It will probably take us close to or more than a year. I've heard that they won't give tourist Visas to applicants. If they do I can send an invitation letter for my husband and have him visit me in Canada while we are waiting. Do you know if they would grant tourist visas easily?

U can try it; however, i'm afraid that the chances are too low. I got rejected last year while I had a valid Schengen visa in my passport, my application wasn't filed at that time, i had a long term contract with my company and was working on my MSc thesis.........after all the officer told me that u didn't convince me that you will return to Iran if we issue u the visa!!!

yes lele you are right, I am new here,and I really feel good to be in touch with this forum and close to the development of our only issue(our files fate and the processing time).

I am from Iraq, sponsored ,my husband is PR in Canada,he apply the application at 29\4\2011 and medical exam at same month done ,and they informed him by email that he is eligible to sponsor me at 31\5\2011 ,the Canadian embassy in Damascus received the file at 4\6\2011

honestly its really a weird situation, i mean our friend called the embassy and they gave so much info, they even said we didnt issue visa because we are packing , that doesnt make any sense, because i know for a fact there was a lineup outside the embassy last week mostly iranians and lebanese waiting to pick up visas, i dont know what they packed when they are issuing visas, even the fact they are answering the phone and giving out information is weird, honestly im as confused as everyone,  but anyways if they do transfer the files then it wont take long at all, they have TWICE as much staff in turkey than in damascus, so they can handle any load of work, the only difficult thing can be for people whos files have already been processed and are waiting for PPR or interview results, that can be SLIGHTLY delayed but i DOUBT anything major,

im not even thinking about that, i just want to see with my own eyes a statement or something that says embassy is closed or whatever, i think the ambassador should be gone already if they are closing it next week but he isnt gone so..........

It is very easy to her to say :"do not worry". But this is our life! We do not know what will happen to us in Iran, in Iraq or other places in middle east and they easily say that do not worry! Nobody care about us!

Dear Friend,
the situation in Syria is not clear now. We do not know what is happening there. So if you are a new applicant then you have to wait and see what is going to happen to former files. I think it will clear their behavior relevant new files too. But as you now every case is different so the processing time is different from a case to other one.

The thing that I dont get is, if they are transferring the files why they don't announce it OFFICIALLY! Damascus, for God sake put an end to this confusion....its very basic right of ours to know where our file is and how long does it take to be processed.
