hey guys i was advised today by someone in syria that the embassy is now closed an files will be handled by other embassies in different countries....you might wanna contact ur mp's for more info ...i hope u all get the visas asap.

I was under the assumption that since we had to attach medical forms, the whole thing will be over in less than 12 months. I guess I was wrong. Have most people in this thread waited for almost 15 months altogether? And it's really unfair that the sponsored person is unable to visit his/her spouse in Canada don't you think?
well I guess we just have to wait and see.

Of course it is unfair. But who care about it? I am in my 9 months and still waiting!

Hi,
When I was in Iran I went to the Visa office in Tehran because I wanted to ask a few question about the forms. Then I asked them if my visa office in Syria is still working they told me they are transfering all the files to Ukrine and Paris and by the end of the month they will close it. That was in July. I don't understand why it takes them so long to do something. Based on what I hear from others they are not working with all their capacity, so why don't they just close it and send the files somewhere that can do a better job.

I am a Canadian citizen. And yes you can stay with your spouse (only if you're a citizen, not a PR yourself) for the entire process but they will definitely ask you to send proof that you will be returning to Canada.

Oh thanks. It is great to hear from someone who had been in the same situation as I am right now. Even though I would rather to go back home, at the same time I don't want to leave my husband behind. What did your husband has to take with him to the interview as a proof and to convince the Visa Officer that you guys are planning to go back?

I know it's hard. I miss my family terribly and have not seen them in over a year!

We also had to prove our financial situation so that's why there are the tax return papers and those too. But the last four things I wrote were to prove we want to go to Canada.

Hello everybody,
I just found out about this website a few hours ago and joined. I am a Canadian citizen currently living in Iran. I have applied for my husband sponsorship. We sent the application on December 13 and haven't heard from them since. I'm sure many of you have more information and experience than I do regarding this matter. How long is the whole process going to take approximately? Also, I am planning to return to Canada in a couple of months to find a job and settle down before my husband get's there. Do you think I might be able to apply for a tourist visa so he can come visit me while we're waiting for his application to be processed?

Hello and welcome

The entire process will take about 13 months. However it could take less than that, or it could take more. There's not really any way to tell, but you just have to be patient. Your husband can apply for a visitor visa, but the chances of him getting one are very low, since it's already clear that he wants to live/move to Canada. You can still try, we've had a few people here who have been successful!

Does anybody here know if an interview is a routine part of processing sponsorship application? If so, who is going to be interviewed?

It's not routine, but it's not uncommon either. When my husband had his interview there were about 10 other people there (I think a mix of the family and skilled worker classes) having interviews.

If this is true, or it closes by the end of the month I think they will first finish up the files that have been there the longest. We still have people from December 2010! They should be getting PPR before the end of the month/before they transfer the files.

nooo, i think it was one of the least productive months for members here...since Christmas, almost 1 month now, just Wardeh got it and U!!!!! and there was another but not member here (wife of friend of cousin or something like that, someone heard of someone else and shared it here , sorry but i don't remember the name)...i think others got it though but probably less than 1 year ago (due to circumstances we already know and no need to mention again)...inshallah all this is just temporary and better times r just around the corner
