they specifically asked me to write and address only Damascus as the VO. |

yes exactly... they asked you but they didn't ask me to redo my medical I did it because it had expired. so I'm afraid it will be sent to the wrong place... |

; I don't think the system can distinguish files of medicals that have been requested or not. All files will be treated the same way, the problem is I don't know what they will do but I guess what I'm trying to point is it doesn't matter whether they asked you or not; they would probably have a system to sort them out. So no extra worries there, just the same as everyone else's:) |

We just redid our medicals as well about 2 weeks ago and put Damascus. I don't think it will be a problem because I would think that Paris keeps a hard copy of the medical so the new VO can request it. And I'm sure Paris would be informed that Damascus is closing so they would not send files there. there might be confusion but I don't think our medicals will dissapear.

Hi sohrab919 ... you seem to have more expertise in this area than most of us, since you work for CIC and are married with somebody in Iran. I have a question for you. I came back to Iran 11 months ago and married 3 months ago and decided to stay with my husband till he gets his papers. Do you think that my staying here in Iran is going to delay our application? Do you have any answer for this one?

I've been staying with my husband the entire process and it took us a little over a year so I don't think it has anything to do with being/not being with your spouse. Be prepared to send them proof that you will return to Canada, that's what we had to do in our interview. |

Oh thanks. It is great to hear from someone who had been in the same situation as I am right now. Even though I would rather to go back home, at the same time I don't want to leave my husband behind. What did your husband has to take with him to the interview as a proof and to convince the Visa Officer that you guys are planning to go back? |

We sent the application on December 13 and haven't heard from them since. I'm sure many of you have more information and experience than I do regarding this matter. How long is the whole process going to take approximately? Also, I am planning to return to Canada in a couple of months to find a job and settle down before my husband get's there. Do you think I might be able to apply for a tourist visa so he can come visit me while we're waiting for his application to be processed?

Hi Laleh, welcome. The process time of first step is 68 days. So you can expect a reply maybe middle of February. And about second step i think nowadays it is a little bit unclear. We have to sit and see what is going to happen in Syria. But now the average time is 13 months. So first of all practice patience for this process. As you know in this situation a visitor visa for us is inapplicable. |

I was under the assumption that since we had to attach medical forms, the whole thing will be over in less than 12 months. I guess I was wrong. Have most people in this thread waited for almost 15 months altogether? And it's really unfair that the sponsored person is unable to visit his/her spouse in Canada don't you think?
well I guess we just have to wait and see.
