dear all friends,
I am filling the forms to sponsor my husband. I have a friend who has sponsored her husband and her representative told her to prepare some signed letters from the people(as witnesses) who knew about their relationship. have you guys done that? or have you ever heard about it? and another question: is the initial processing fee $550? have I understood that correctly? (75+475)?
Thank you all for being supportive

Hi Kamelia:)
our lawyer also had us submit signed letters from family/friends to help prove the relationships. We submitted 6 or 7 letters. I think the more you submit the better:)

As the other friends said try to add as much as evidences which show genuine of your relationship. We ourselves added such letters to our file too.

thx so much for the replies:) is the validity based on which country it is from? his is Iran. I thought it was a year... I'll have to double check. should we email them for the b number or just use our number that we got from Mississauga?

When we had the interview, I asked him and he said they are valid for one year. But if it's not a hassle for you to do then do another just in case.

hi kamelia,
i second ddobro2 and the others Smiley better send more and let them decide....as for photos, if u also have photos from occasions spent together (not only the wedding), photos with each others families it could be good Smiley as for the letters, if u have a few as statutory declarations (=signed in front of a notary) they have even bigger weight (that's easy to be done in Canada, not so much in Middle East); remember who looks over ur file doesn't know u, it's ur job to prove urself and explain and make their job easy Smiley if u have older proofs they also have bigger weight...
the initial fee is $75 for the sponsor + $475 for the principal applicant (assuming this is the only person being sponsored); the right of permanent residence fee ($490) could be paid later, but if u pay all up front u might save some time after that; if it's not possible, it's ok, u'll pay it when they ask Smiley good luck!!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question is it true that if your are sponsoring your wife to Canada is faster

What I mean is it fast for Females then Males ?

Because I have heard that with females they do less background checks.

we should have in the spreadsheet who we are sponsoring and see if its true

I am a woman and sponsored by my husband. I am waiting for more than 8 months and no news. Therefore i do not think it has a big role in this issue.  Cry But i wish it was so! Grin

who knows maybe the security checks will b done faster especially because there's no military service for female applicants, so one less thing to check....but the background checks is much more than that so i think it's again case by case scenario....some members said for the wives the process was faster, for others it didn't really make a difference...i think that the country of birth might slow down things more than if the applicant is male/female....some countries r part of the friend nations list others not (i believe politics has influence Cry )...also, if she traveled more or lived in different countries, that also could slow things down

I agree. I don't think male/female has much of a difference compared to other things like where the sponsored person has lived and traveled.

Its case by case! Why some poeple of january gets the ppr and some people of november still waiting. There is no rules in this process. You can analyse the process but you will always find a case that does not reflect your analysis.

Salam all,
I'm so happy today so I felt of sharing what my husband has received from the Canadian embassy this morning.
The status of my husband's application has always said (application received) for almost one year, couple of days ago they changed the status to (In process) I really felt very positive because I felt that there is something good coming in our way.

the strange thing that the e-mail my husband received today from the Canadian Embassy was not from the same e-mail they used to send us e-mails from  (re-damascus-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca), they used this e-mail (re-amman.immigration @ international.gc.ca)
and the signature that they used to write in the end of their e-mails was not the same, they used this signature

Visa Section | Section des Visas
Embassy of Canada | Ambassade du Canada
Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan | Royaume Hachémite de Jordanie
P.O. Box | B.P. 815403
Amman 11180 Jordan | Jordanie
Facsimile | Télécopieur : (+962-6) 520-3392
E-mail | Courriel: amman.immigration @ international.gc.ca
Web site | site Web: www.jordan.gc.ca
Government of Canada | Gouvernement du Canada

Since the e-mail they sent is an attachment , I couldn't paste it here because it's a JPG File, so I'll just write down what they asked us to send.

Dear **********
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. Please send the Following Document (s):
Take new medical exam. You must visit one of our designated medical doctors to complete the medical exam.Once done please send a copy of the green medical slip (IMM1017 Medical Report-Section A) either by mail or scanned by e-mail to our office in Damascus as per the address shown below.
Embassy of Canada
P.O.Box 3394
Damascus, Syria
E-mail :Damascus-im-inquiry @ international.gc.ca

in the very last line they wrote:
your case has been conditionally accepted and will be finalized once the new meds have been processed.

then they wrote:
Please read the following changes to procedures for submitting documents and passports:
When a visa is issued you will be requested to send your original passport directly to the Canadian Embassy in Damascus via commercial courier. Passports cannot be submitted to our offices in Amman, Beirut , or Tehran. Do not send your original passport until you are requested to do so. at that time you will be provided with additional information on procedures.

Sincerely ,

Visa Section
Embassy of Canada
Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Amman 11180 Jordan
Facsimile : (+962-6) 520-3392
E-mail : amman.immigration @ international.gc.ca
Web site: www.jordan.gc.ca
Government of Canada

anyway my husband renewed his medical 5 months ago, so we just sent them the tracking numbers and some proofs that we did the medical back in July, 2011 and was received and signed by Canadian embassy.

my analysis from that e-mail that Canadian embassy in Damascus saved copies of all spousal applications in Canadian embassy in Jordan, Amman in case of closure of Canadian embassy in Damascus , Syria.

Have anyone of you guys ever received an e-mail from Canadian Embassy in Jordan , Amman using this address (re-amman.immigration @ international.gc.ca)?

Have a nice day everyone  Smiley
