One more thing, can't we send our spouse a visa? like a visiting visa?

What the hell is wrong with these people, why are they so stupid and would not change some 100 years old laws.

God dam these people man, they give a student visa in 47 days and spousal PR 10 months?

wowwwww

Yes, your wife can apply for a touristic visa. We are doing the same. Cause the waiting time for the permanent residency is too long. But...I dont know if the touristic visa will be accepted.

dear hanna, no at the moment nothing is changed in syria for us or the embassy, the only thing is the goverment of canada is saying CANADIANS SHOULDNT GO TO SYRIA AND THE ONES THERE SHOULD LEAVE, thats it, as far as diplomats and the embassy, its the same as before,  its going to take alot more for them to leave, and well i dont think they are going to email EVERY PERSON and say this is happening, but they will for sure post it on their website or it will make the news, so at the moment dont be worried, lets all just hope it goes well

ali jan yes you can apply but chances of getting a visa is very low , because shes your wife  and how is she going to prove to the immigration agent she will return when her husband is in canada, you know what i mean? there is nothing she can say to convince them

Oh wow...

Why did it take only 2 months for my sister in law then? I shall ask my brother, because you guys are right.

I remember him contacting the NDP Member of Parliament. Would you guys think that would help?

Regards

i know a few people that came from iran in 3 4 months as well, you know what it is though, for example your case might be one of those miracle cases that goes through in like 3 4 months but the problem is your file is in a pile of 50 and by the time they look at yours its already been 5 6 7 months, thats why it takes long, sometimes people get stuck because the person ahead of them is missing documents and so on..... but your are right its ridiculous to be waiting this long, i personally cant wait, im going back for a visit in july,

Thank you for your quick response. I am glad that the embassy is still productive for all of our sakes. I hope the situation in Syria makes our cases a priority because it has been quite some time for many of us.

Well sohrab, dont say that. I know that some people got the touristic visa even during sponsorship processing. Maybe it depends on the country where your wife is...

Hello Friends,

I have a couple of questions. The Damascus office recieved my wive's app on march 15 and it is April 24 now, based on the processing times it should take 2 months all together. Is that true? Is it goig to take more than that?

As in them requesting more documents, what documents would they request?

Thanks guys,

before 2009 people would get their visas in 4-5 months, i know a girl in my school her husband came in 4 months from iran . Now it's taking on average 9-10... don't ask why we don't know. it's just a crappy situation. now i've  the situation in lebanon is deteriorating so if something happens god forbidden I won't even be able to go to lebanon to see my husband this summer. Seriously, the wait time is ridiculous . the politics in the middle-east is ridiculous. the canadian government is ridiculous. what kind of world do we live in

man man man what the **** is wrong with these people? It takes 2-3 days to look at any application, doesnt matter how complicated it is. But, drinking coffee and smoking cig. is better. I sent them two emails since March 23 and I did not get a reply yet. is it hard to type an email?does it consume a lot of energy.

Are they on alert now for transferring or are they transferring the files now. And if so, will we be advised? I sent in the second medical in and it should arrive tomorrow. How long of a hold will are files have? I have so many questions right now...wow

Please refer above, I hate to inform you there will be no transferring.  Visa processing isn't considered an essential service.  If the embassy is shut down, the whole thing grinds to a halt.  Furthermore, when we sent our stuff to Mississauga or elsewhere, they obtain copies of everything and back it up, just in case things go terribly wrong in Syria, Egypt and elsewhere, so they are not too worried about losing documents.

I've heard it's a risk, if you don't get it, the rejection looks bad when applying for PR.  My wifes friend got a visitor visa while applying on PR and she is now living with her husband here for a few months.  There is no rhyme or reason, and well since she is from Iran, I wouldn't even say the country matters at this point LOL Cheesy

I'm assuming you haven't had your application sitting in Damascus for the average 10 month time yet?  If you haven't the explicitly say on the website no emails will be answered until the average wait time of 10 months has passed for an applicant...trust me I'm in the same boat!
