i very clear about step 1 ( 66+ days) and step 2 ( 13 months )meaning step to is when file reaches damascus about 2 to 3 weeks after ur approval of sponsorship ...so feverdreams it should be around 27 october for you thats when u start counting.

how do you know when they have received the file cause this is what i have on my application when i open it from my end (I am the person sponsoring my spouse)

From my understanding i start counting from the 11th of October, correct?

You can check your status in e-case.
As sponsor and who lives in Canada you have already a client ID you can use it and check your e case. Arriving date of documents in Damascus is mentioned there.

We mostly decided to wait for embassy to ask us to send the valid medical report.

I started counting since they started process my applecation. on tuesday will be 1 year. so if I started the conting from they recieved my app. which was on october 2010 it will be 14 month from waiting.
so I don't think that, the right start of counting is  from they start processing the file.
also, they mentioned in their webpage that the counting will start  from the day that our file is complete and they did not ask for anything more.

here is quote from CIC website:

"There are two steps in processing family sponsorship applications. In order to know the total approximate time it may take for your application to be processed, ADD the time in step 1 to the time in step 2 (the two steps are consecutive)."

they clearly emphasize that the TOTAL processing time is step 1 (sponsor approval) PLUS step 2 (the process in the specific embassy)....so the 13 months for Damascus is from the moment Damascus received the file NOT from the moment the application was initially sent to Mississauga or the sponsor got the approval letter....unfortunately, Damascus does not really let people know when their file was received, it's a guess based on others' experience....also, for the Quebec applicants another 3-4 weeks are added between step 1 and step 2, for the process of the CSQ...hope it's clear

what I realized from your post, step 1 is done for you. " IF" your application is received by damascus, then you are in STEP 2. Therefore from processing timetable, 13 months is average waiting time for step 2.

why if? if the first step is done and Damascus is the visa office, where could the application be :-o we just need to assume (HOOPE) that Damacus got the application can i ask u, when they sent u the email, did they send it to ask for additional documents/info, or just confirmation that they received ur application? most people don't get any confirmation and will not know anything until the day they get their visa; good luck!!

ya ramz on sunday if they dont phone him than well phone and i hope they answer.no emails just decsion made on both,for him it was jan3.me as sponserer was feb1 2011.arazeo you always make us smile,i hope your done by narooz,is that april?as for A+M,i hope you could tell your kids soon that your baba is coming.mine were happy but the younger ones kind of forgot him.its just getting worse in syria,please god stop all this blood.

honey don't know if the call center works 24h or in weekends (maybe others can confirm that) but if i were u, i would call and call, until i get the answer and know exactly what's going on; u need to know ASAP, usually sometimes they could give u just 10 days to go with the passport; also check both emails carefully (including the spam folder)

I said "IF" because I am not sure that they still send application to Damascus due to current situation in Syria.

The email was reply to my email which I asked for current application status.

no cause when they send me mail to re do the medical, they said the process may take 6 month after the date of medical , and if they didn't contact me during this period I can ask them.
but in the Damascus office web site they said after the medical there is 3 month waiting time after medical date, and if they did not contact me I can ask them.
So I send them an email after 3 month, they answered after 3 days.
they said be patient the applecation almost in the last stage.

Feverdreams please don't get confused, my husband got his visa recently but I just wanted to help you to make everything clear for you
when I check my client ID # it says :

We received ********* application for permanent residence on December 6, 2010.
 
We started processing ******* application on December 15, 2011.(the embassy added this info almost 10 days before getting my husband's visa so I always counted from Dec ,6 ,2010)
 
Medical results have been received.
 
A decision has been made on ****** application. The office will contact ******** concerning this decision.

In my point of view start counting from the date Damascus received your application which is ( July 27, 2011) because for me if I wanted to count from the day they started processing my husband's application (December 15, 2011) it means that it took the embassy to review our application 7 days only excluding weekends and Christmas holiday! because my husband got his PPR on Dec 27, 2011 , and that doesn't make any sense.

I think u should start counting from oct 11 that they started processing ur application not from the day u handed in ur application. Wardeh case was very extra ordinary since it took them a year to complete the first step!

First step was around 40 days (now its 68 days)
Second step was around 10 months (now 13 months)
