You have to understand oppositeset that these types of interviews do not happen very often at all.
So for that reason, there may not be many people that can help you. I hope this member doesn't mind I reference them but eyeoftheocean is the only member that applied inland I am aware of that had a CSIS interview. Maybe you should send her a PM (private message). Good luck! Wink

Oh no, CSIS interview !!! prepare for a long wait after CSIS interview, ive been waiting over 1 year now since the CSIS interview and still no results back , although CSIS were done with the assessment in October 2010, after your CSIS interview they send it to ' The Minister of Immigration ' for him to review your case and this take more time , when its reviewed 'The Minister' has the final say , Whether you are a security 'RISK' or not , then he sends it on to the nearest VO for them to make a report whether you are inadmissable or not.

Having a CSIS interview is no fun , be prepared for your entire life being thrown at you , you must have raised alarm bells somehow with CIC , whether you were in some sort of organisation or politics  or maybe the Army ? CSIS do NOT interview you unless you have some connection with any of these.

GOOD LUCK !!

thanks for the reply eyeoftheocean

i got my AIP in November 2009 and my security interview is in june 2011. Got AIP without interview so i dont know why it took 4 years from the time i applied to ring bells but i guess thats how they are... what bothers me is the time its taking.

i was never part of army, politics etc. not even close... came to canada when i was 20 and never ever had even slightest problems with the law... i got my current job only when i passed series of security checks, its with a private organization but high security...

if you dont mind could you tell me what kind of questions do they ask you exactly, and how is their behaviour towards you ?

thanks again

There must be something or someone you are connected to that raised alarms, every interview is unique, therefore I can only tell you to be prepared for a lot of questions connecting to your life, where you worked , who you know, family members, any criminalty your family has been involved in, you have to really think about what this could be about so you are prepared for CSIS. what ever you do DO NOT LIE to them, they have all the info already and ammunition to fire at you .

You can call a break anytime you wish,  and word of warning too, you can take a representative with you , but if I was you dont bother paying for a lawyer as you will be paying through the roof and the Lawyer CANNOT speak or take notes during the interview , at this point you DO NOT need one .

Are you sure you havnt been involved with anything criminal, political or military or have any close connections ? even posting on websites can raise alarms if those websites are classed as a threat to Canada.

What exactly does your letter say ? does is give any indication why CSIS want to interview you ?

Your name has absoloutly nothing to do with this, Mohammed is a very popular name.

CSIS are very forward and look you in the eye to see if your telling the truth, they analyze you and repeat the questions , its almost like an interigation without the spotlight! but they are fair and to the point , mine was not nasty at all but he didnt mess about either.

If you say you have a clean record , maybe its your job !

one thing i forgot to mention is that my file was transferred to local Scarborough office in march 2008 and my interview is going to be in the local scarborough office...

here's what the letter says exactly...

name
address

In order to continue the processing of your application, it is necessary for you to appear at this office for an interview that will be conducted by CSIS. The service is authorized by parliament to provide advice on immigrants to the minister of citizenship and immigration Canada relating to security matters contained in section 34(1) of the immigration and refugee protection act:

You are requested to attend an interview regards to an immigration matter at:

Address of scarborough office

Bring this letter and any personal identification documents you may have in your possession(original passport or travel document)

Seems like a very generic letter

Any thoughts ?

OK, do you understand what section 34 (1) is ?

Here is a link which you need to study in depth and seriously think about who you know who has links to any of these mentioned .This is more serious than what you think !

You dont need a Lawyer just yet and CSIS cannot arrest you they are not RCMP or nor do they have the power to arrest you.

thanks for the link

yes i read the section 34(1) of immigration and refugee protection act... isn't that the sole purpose of CSIS background check though, to determine the inadmissibility of the person in question ?

i am not taking it lightly but i am just confused why they chose me !!!

can't wait to go for the interview, still a month away...

Not sure if this will help, its some cases that have gone through the CSIS interviews and denied, but might give you an idea....

It is the purpose of the interview, However, this means you have some links to either of these in section 34 (1 ).

Its your job. I think they are looking for possible acts of espionage.

I just read this on the CTV Web site:

China is top espionage risk to Canada: CSIS

A CSIS official said that Chinese spies stole $1 billion worth
of technological secrets every month.

In a 2004 report, CSIS said Chinese economic espionage targeted
information including contract details, supplier lists, planning documents,
research and development data, technical drawings and computer databases.
