@ Toronto, I disagree with you. Credential assessment is recommneded by CIC itself and it has provided links to the various agencies depending on the profession. For instance for social work CIC listed Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) when it comes to cre assessment and regulation. Here is a link for the 29 occupations. I don't see how they change this just to suit their agenda. Knowing how incomprehensible Canadian immigration can be, one cannot put anything past JK! A link to occupational facts: http://www.credentials.gc.ca/immigrants/factsheets/index.asp*Mandie*

Hi Mandie
Do we need to assess our education and work experience before apply next July, 2012 as social worker.
samirsa
No, only credential assessment is about to be made law come July. However, our experience must continue to meet the JD under the NOC applied. *Mandie*

The process involves sending supporting documents to the relevant agency in Canada........the offices dont have to be located in India. I did mine via CASW, Ontario and I am in Accra. *Mandie*

samirsa
According to CIC: Why credential recognition mattersIf your education, work experience or professional credentials were obtained outside Canada, they may not be equivalent to Canadian credentials. To work in Canada, you will need to have your credentials assessed to see whether they meet Canadian standards or whether you need more training, education or Canadian work experience. Foreign credential recognition is the process of verifying that the education, training and job experience you obtained in another country are equivalent to the standards established for Canadian workers. http://www.credentials.gc.ca/recognition/why-matters.asp*Mandie*

Not really. It will help you to get a job or to be established in Canada. Read Mandie's earlier post under this thread.

NOPE! If that was the case, I would have gotten visa by now.....I did the assessment more for job search than for immigration. It didn't make any difference (or so I think) as I am still stuck at RBVO *Mandie*
