I sent my application package earlier this week from the UK. I paid a premium to be able to track it all the way to CPC-Mississauga.

I just logged in to find out the following  Angry

Status:   Held

28-04-2011    05:37   YYZ    Delivery attempted - refused by addressee
28-04-2011    04:34   YYZ    Loaded to vehicle for delivery
28-04-2011    03:35   YYZ    Received at delivery depot
28-04-2011    02:30   YYZ    Forwarded to delivery depot
28-04-2011    00:33   YYZ    Received in destination country
27-04-2011    19:27   STN    Received in destination country
27-04-2011    18:35   STN    Forwarded to delivery depot
27-04-2011    14:33   STN    Left origin country
27-04-2011    14:32   STN    Forwarded for export
27-04-2011    12:34   Leeds Tracked out of Local Hub

I'm completely stressing out as to why my parcel would be "refused by the addressee"

I've done a bit of research online and can only seem to find that they might of added a customs fee which CPC refused to pay OR because the parcel was addressed to a PO Box.

I'm guessing it may be latter because we did address it to a PO Box address as stated in all the sponsorship guides.

I'll ring ParcelForce in the morning and hopefully if it is an address problem, I can get them to change it to the following "physical address" ?

2 Robert Speck Parkway,
Suite 1200
Mississauga, ON
L4Z 1H8

Any else have similar problems or issues with their delivery to CPC-M?

Sad

Did you put a value on your package? Someone else on the site did that and when it was delivered they tried to collect duty on the package so it was refused.

yes Kaycee is right...someone else had the same problem (he sent also from UK through DHL) and he valued his package to a few hundreds pound...for things higher than some amount there's a duty in place and obviously CIC refused to pay it...talk to ur courrier: if u can get back the package put less value for it and send it again; if u cannot, ask them to pay the duty urself from ur credit card...

also search this forum and PM the ones with the same experience; they could help u more

the good news in ur case is that it's clearer that ur package is not lost, just returned...in the other case it looked that his package was lost, noone could tell him where it is, what happened for a few weeks; so don't worry too much, it will finally arrive Smiley

by the way, what courier did u use? (from the log u show, they seem professional)

You really shouldn't put a value on these kinds of packages.  I had it explained to me at length by a FedEx rep that packages of documents that are not commercial in nature should always have "NCV" on them in place of a value.  That means "No Commercial Value", and allows the courier to smoothly get such packages through Customs.  If Customs thinks the package value is high enough, or not high enough considering the size of the package, THEY WILL OPEN IT AND GO THROUGH IT.  I don't think you want Customs anywhere rooting around your Immigration package and documents!

woooow that's very interesting...apparently not all the couriers do their homework well and make their clients aware  Lips sealed

Parcelforce is a courier service aren't they?  A courier service would not generally be able to deliver to a PO Box only to a physical address.  Getting the physical address added should solve this.

Well my parcel finally got delivered yesterday  Grin

It wasn't a PO Box issue as I had assumed. Apparently FedEx make delivery exceptions for government offices such as CPC.

It turns out there was a $26.95 customs tax fee to be paid from the insurance declaration value.

Paid the fee and they redelivered my parcel to CPC-M no problem Smiley
