Cousin why not?
«

I've heard that CIC does not consider cousin to be an eligible relative in Canada. Does anybody know why? I got a cousin in Canada. Our mothers are sisters, so I believe we're close relative, right?

hi thaiguy,
Can I still check the "Do you have a relative in Canada?" section in the form and just leave blank for the choices in the "Relationship" section since cousin is not listed? I'm planning to still include the PR documents of my cousin. Will CIC return my application/documents if I do this? Any ideas?

If you check that box, you will be misrepresenting your case.
Once they realize you don't have a close relative in Canada, they will eliminate those points from your application. And if that puts you below 67 points, they'll deny your application.
Do you really want to spend the money on applying, only to have them deny it?

Even if you check '' do you have relative section '' if you do not have the kind of relative refered to by CIC and recognised by law, you will not be given points on it though that does not mean that your application will not be processed. If you meet the minimum mandatory point (67) without the relative points you can still scale through.
