Hey all;

I am currently sponsoring my common-law spouse for permanent residence into Canada.  My question is regarding the questions relevant to which country you reside in, and which countries you have resided in.  I have lived with her in Norway for the past 1.5 years, although I have been on a tourist visa the entire time.  I have kept my Canadian place of residence, as well as my car, have extended my Canadian health care coverage for the duration, and declare all my income to Canada.  Just wanted to clarify that, as far as the application is concerned, I am a resident of Canada, sponsoring someone who is a resident of Norway, even though I am in fact staying in Norway at the moment.

My main concern is that me declaring that I reside in Canada, and her residing in Norway, might raise suspicion regarding the living together requirement.  We do have a shared lease agreement, shared bank account, shared utilities, and all the document which comes along with.  Additionally I have included a document which explains the situation in great detail.

Can anyone provide any feedback on whether this will potentially cause any issues?

As long as you have explained the situation and have a lot of proof, it should be OK. Claiming your residence is in Norway, and then explaining the situation vis-a-vis also keeping your Canadian residence, would also be OK.
Even though you are on a tourist visa, you should still list Norway in the answer to 'what countries have you lived in' question.
