Country of Birth?

The TRV application includes form 5645E Family Information.  The form asks for the Country of Birth of my spouse and I am confused on what to put.

My spouse was born in the USA but is a Canadian Citizen (via descent).  What is the correct answer for the “Country of Birth” question?  Is it USA because that is where he was born or is it Canada because he was born a Canadian Citizen?

(We reside exclusively outside of Canada)

Thanks

Hi,

hope you were successful in your application.  I'm currently filling in the same form, but so that I can obtain a Holiday Working Visa.  My spouse is actually Canadian, so he will already be in Canada when I get there, so he won't technically be 'accompanying me' although we will be living together once I get there.  Do you know if I should answer 'yes' or 'no' to the question which asks if he'll be accompanying me?

Thanks for your help
