Hello all:

This is my first time taking the IELTS, so I have no idea how to read those numbers:
Listening   8.5
Reading    7.5
Writing     8.0
Speaking  7.5
Overall     8.0

Is it OK to go ahead with the app?

Thank you for your time,

Now you need to consider your score combined with all the other requirements (check cic.gc.ca for instructions for each type of application.)

If you are applying as a skilled worker, if you are claiming English as your first language, you have 16 points.   If you are claiming English as your second language (and taking TEF for French), you'll get 8 points.   Congratulations!

Listening   8.5  => 4 pts (2 if second language)
Reading    7.5  => 4 pts (2 if second language)
Writing     8.0  => 4 pts (2 if second language)
Speaking  7.5  => 4 pts (2 if second language)
                       =======================
                        16 points (8 points if second language)

The other requirements are listed at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG72.asp

These are just some thoughts based on the information available, what I've read, and my experience.  I am not an expert; if you want the facts, cic.gc.ca has a wealth of information.  Good luck with your application!  Hope you have a wonderful day *smile*
