Wow!! My wife just got hers done today. Took about 20 minutes, cost 1450 RMB (= about $221 Canadian). That's pretty good money for the doctor!
Anyone else care to share what they paid? Are doctors exploiting their franchise? I.E., if you want into Canada, you must pay them well for their small part?

We paid the equivalent of about $50 CND in India.
I doubt the doctors are exploiting anyone. I think they would need to show that their fees are in keeping with other similar services in the country in question.

My spouse paid $230 in Canada, including chest x-ray and blood/urine exam. His actually doctors appointment took 5 minutes, and I couldnt believe that the doctor made $150 off of him for 5 minutes!

I called the doctor in Germany first and was told that it would cost about 250 Euros. Just for fun I called the Canadian doctor and was told that costs in Canada would be 150 CAD. Obviously, I decided to get the medical done in Canada while visiting. In the end, I only paid 135 CAD which is about 100 Euros, so 150 Euros cheaper than if I had had the medical exam in Germany...

We paid $445 U.S. (roughly $460 Canadian), which included the office exam, blood and urine lab work, chest X-ray, and submission of the doctor's report to CIC.

Thanks to all for their input.
The lesson here seems to be “shop around”. There is a large difference in fees paid to a CIC-approved doctor in the same country.
1450 RMB ($230 CDN) is a VERY expensive checkup in China, according to my Chinese wife. The checkup took 15 minutes.
In Canada, the cost and time should be similar, I'd have thought. But no:
$230 in Canada for 5 a minute checkup. $150 in Canada. $90 in Canada for a 10-minute checkup.[/li][/list]
If I were in Canada, and phoned around, it would take some serious convincing to make me pay $230 instead of $90. Same procedure, same result (report to CIC) hugely different price.

I paid $180 for the checkup, bloodwork and chest x-ray in Toronto. I called and made an appointment for the following day. Very smooth...

Problem is toby, the $90 and the $230 medicals are often quite far apart. If you're in Toronto, you probably won't go to Vancouver for the medical, even if it is over $100 cheaper I there is only one DMP in our country (Slovenia), so I didn't get a choice. I paid around €130 for it, so about $200.

In the netherlands the costs were x-ray & bloodtest - 150 euro checkup - 95 euro
It doesn't seem fair that the prices aren't consistent. But good to know, especially if the medical expires and has to be redone.

Hi Nvr I couldn't find the receipt but I remember it was about 2000 rupees. You will need to do a physical exam, blood test, urine test and xray. The doctor will give you a copy of Medical Report - Section A which you submit with you application. You don't actually get the results of the medical tests. They only contact you in the event that you have some medical condition that needs to be addressed. If everything is normal, they don't contact you.
