HI All

I have 2 questions about the COPR forms whic came along the stamped passports

1. My Place of Birth is blank in the COPR(even though My passport clearly mentions of places of birth)whereas my wife and kids COPR's have their birth places mentioned correctly.

Should i be contacting the Buffalo VO? An instructions pamplet with COPR says to contact the VO if there is a discrepency in Name, country of citizenship, country of birth (mind it country not place).

2. My and my wife's current country of residence has a different code than my son's even though we are all in USA. Dont know if that matters or not

3.  The Country of Birth/Citizenship for my son is mentioned as 'United States O' instead of United States of America

Looking forward to advise from you all . Please Help

Avi

I sent an email to Buffalo VO yesterday and got the following reply from them

=======================================================

Please be aware: The spelling of your name on your Confirmation of Permanent Residence may have been shortened due to restrictions in the size of the name field. This cannot be amended.

If you detect an error in the name, date of birth or citizenship on your immigrant visa or the visa of any of your accompanying dependents you must return all the documents for correction before you proceed to Canada. You must send the documents for the whole family including the passports.

Please send them following our mailing instructions which can be found at http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/visas/submit_soumettre.aspx?view=d
Please submit a cover letter providing the following:

> Why you are returning the documents.
> When you are planning to travel to Canada
> Mailing instructions and appropriate envelope for the return of documents.
> A contact telephone number in case we need to reach you by phone.
Our Mailing address:  Canadian Consulate General Regional Program Center3000 HSBC Centre Buffalo, New York 14203-2884

You may also deliver them in person on Tuesday or Thursday between 8:00 am and 11:00 am.

Well i believe this is only due to short space expect the residence code. Do not seem to be an issue at all

But if u r not planning to travel in the short run, better send your COPR back to CHC with the cover letter and try getting them corrected

You are worrying over nothing!

They have already incated that lack of space is responsible for some shortened items.  It is obvious that 'United States of O' is due to lack of space for United States of America.

Hi Avi,

I recieve the following reply,

If an error appears in the name, date of birth, passport number and/or citizenship on the permanent resident visa and COPR, these should be returned to our office to make the relevant changes. Other mistakes, such as height or eye colour, may be changed by the officer at the port of entry when you enter Canada.

Also, the Confirmation of Permanent Residence forms have limited space and the applicant's name can be curtailed. When the officer at the port of entry verifies your details in our electronic records, all names will be shown in full.

So be patience and dont worry , the place of birth is not so important for CIC.
