Conjugal partner question???

Hello, if anyone has an advice or went through a similar situation that would be great.

I've been reading up on applying for a conjugal partner visa and I really want to know if my partner and I are eligible and if our case would be approve given our circumstances.

I live in the U.S. and am a U.S. citizen and my partner lives in Canada and is a Canadian citizen. We met online and have been in a committed relationship for four years. We have phone and instant messaging records to prove that. Unfortunately, he has not been able to visit because I am financially dependent on my parents and they do not approve of our relationship--therefore won't let him visit.

Also, I cannot visit because I don't have the financial means to since they support me. As of recently, I am asserting my independence from them since I turned 18 and would like to move to Canada so that we can live together. We haven't been able to get married because my parents would not allow me to marry him. They also refuse to pay for my university education if I continue to see him and do not give me the means to work (i.e. won't let me drive the car or apply for a job)

Because of this I have decided to leave and go live with him in Canada but I need to be certain that I can live there with him without leaving. We do plan on getting married when I am there and living with him, we just have not been able to right now.

I would really like some advice or someone's experience who has a similar situation to mine. I understand that most immigration sites state that a conjugal partner visa is for people who cannot get married for whatever reason. We would have gotten married or lived together had my parents not gotten in the way. He can't move here because he has a permanent stable job there so it makes more sense for him to sponsor me.

Please does anyone have any advice???

Also, they recently changed their policy and people have to apply for a work permit before entering Canada. Would I have to do that if he's sponsoring me? And how would I apply for a work permit once I'm there? Can I apply for one while our case is pending? Will I be able to live with him there or will I have to apply for a temporary visa?

I don't think you have a good case for conjugal.  Instead, have him come and get you.  You can go to Canada together and enter saying that you want to get married and apply for sponsorship.  Ask for a visitor record to let you stay for a year instead of 6 months.  If you apply inland, they will not kick you out while your application is being processed and you can apply for an open work permit which you should get in 9-10 months if all goes well.  Another option is to apply outland through the US in which case you might have your PR in about 6 months.

Well our plan is that in January he is going to come down and we are going back to Canada together, he has an apartment already and he'd be taking time off work to come get me. What would we do at the border? Someone mentioned that I should not have a lot of luggage with me because they will interpret that as an intent to stay there illegally? (I'm skeptical but want to know)

How would I go about taking the steps you've mentioned once we're there at the border?
