My boyfriend entered Canada on February 5th as a temporary resident (visitor) and was granted stay until April 05 2011.

He applied for an extension 30 days prior to the expiration of his permitted status through Immigration Canada.

I have read on the CIC website that he is permitted to stay until we hear back from immigrations about the acceptance or refusal of the extension, under the conditions
of the original visa.  The conditions are as follows: You may not work in Canada; You may not study in Canada; You must leave by april 5th, 2011.

Does this mean he can stay until we receive word regarding his extension, or does he still have to leave before the date stamped on entry (April 05 2011)?

We appreciate your help and guidance!!!!!!

He can stay until he hears back from them but if they say no, he must leave.
