My wife and I are planning to move back to Ontario by Sept. for her schooling as well as her grandmother being very ill. My PR app has not been sent yet. I have the majority of the requirements done except the background check. I need to know if it's faster to do the process thru buffalo or detroit? And if I'm able apply for a work permit while I'm being processed if so where and How? Maybe it's easier to apply inland? I'm not sure which option is best at this point?

                        Please any info would help...

I don't believe you have a choice if applying for PR within US, you have to go with Buffalo.

Yeah, you don't have a choice of Detroit.  You have to send your application to Mississauga and they will forward it to Buffalo.  Depending on where you live in the US and possibly their caseload, whether they want an interview etc, they may forward it to Detroit or Seattle or NY
