Hello,

I'm a 23 year old female Software Engineer with 16 years of education. Though I've recently graduated, I've 3 years of work experience under NOC 2174 (Computer Programmer & Interactive Media Developer). I wish to move to Saskatchewan. Because of my professional experience, from what I've read, I do not qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker program unless I have a job offer and the same is with Saskatchewan's PNP program. I've friends & distant relatives to welcome me in CA but Canada's definition for 'family' is so limited for a South Asian. :) I'm single & I won't have anyone accompanying me. I mailed all this information to Immigration AEEL and here's the response:

Good Morning,

We can not asses your case unless we have your application and all the
documents. According to the information provided in your email you are
eligible to apply so I would encourage you to do so.
The federal program
is another jurisdiction and we can not advise you what to do and what
would be better for you.

Please be advised, as of October 1, 2008, the SINP will be implementing
the following policy changes:  http://www.immigration.gov.sk.ca/iifa

I'm so confused now. I'd really appreciate it if someone could clarify it to me.

I wish you a good day!

Regards

What do you mean the definition is so limited for a south asian. i thought the definition is the same for everyone.

We dont know what info you provided them but they are saying that according to them, you should apply to Saskathewan. It might just be a standard letter but I dont know that for sure.

where do your family live in Canada?

The message you received is very clear.
1) From the email you sent them they have concluded that you may be eligible
2) It is not possible for them to assess your case unless you fill in the appropriate forms and send in the supporting documents.

So, the ball is in your court.

If I were you, I will abide by the rules of the game and give it a go.

I mentioned all the information which I provided them in the first paragraph. I didn't mean to say that CIC has a different definition for 'family' for South Asian but given the extended families they have, the definition rather 'seems' limited. It's just a tongue-in-cheek remark.
I've family & friends in Regina, Toronto & Saskatoon.

But thanks for your opinion.

And thanks for the highlight BobbyB. :P

You could do family sponsoring from Saskatchewan.

One of the province has a scheme for friends to sponsor each other, but that might be Manitoba. You should check it out.

Unless you have a relative or job offer in SK, you are not eligible to apply
