Hi there

I received a letter from the Consulate General dated Aug 22. The letter requests a certificate of no criminal record. And it says,

"We have completed the initial assessment of your application for permanent residence. Based on the information supplied, we are able to process your application without a selection interview. This does not mean that your application has been approved unless you have satisfactorily met all immigration requirements...Upon receipt of satisfactory medical results and all outstanding documents we expect to finalize your application and issue a visa."

However, as I log on the CIC website to check my application status, "Application Received" is shown. (We received your application for permanent residence on July 25, 2011. Medical results have been received.)

Correct me if I am wrong, I just assume if they have completed the initial assessment, my case should be "in progress"

uhhhhh....perhaps I am too impatient...

Go by the written correspondence you receive - they don't always update eCAS right away.

uhhhhh....perhaps I am too impatient.. Cheesy  Yes I think you are!!!.

You got a very clear letter from the visa office. Don't bother about what appears in the ECAS.
Hopefully you may get the passport request soon. Relax and wait. Good luck!

Thank you again, Wilson. Perhaps I'm so confused as well. Coz my husband always tells me not to bother with the average processing time (19 months for 80% of cases processed in the Hong Kong office) He told me his friend's wife is even able to land within 4 months...This raised my expectations (which may not be good for something who's impatient...

Not one case is the same as another, someone can get thro in 4 mths and others a lot longer. Some applications that are sent out after yours may hear something before you too. And e-cas, never rely on that, sometimes they don't update anything untill after a ppr
