hi, my son in Nicaragua got a call from the embassy in Guatemala indicating they needed the passport to stamp the visa. This happend back in late April, 08, the passport was sent via DHL  on April 25, 08, about 2 weeks ago the status on the web changed to : Medical exams received . A desision has been made , the
embassy will contact.... I am just concern with the fact that the passport was requested in late April, status on the CIC web changed 2 weeks ago, but so far, we have not heard anything. Any feedback ?

Some visa offices ask for the passport in the earlier stages of immigration approval, not at the end.  I'm not sure if that applies to the visa office handling your case, but as an example, I think the Manila office asks quite early for the passport even before they make a decision.
