Common-Law sponsorship application.

I haven't even sent off forms yet because we are waiting a few months to fill them out but I am still so nervous. The anxiety I feel makes it so hard for me to eat and live normally.
I want this sponsorship to be approved so badly that it is tearing me up inside. Can anyone help relieve some tension off of me?

Can you share you experiences with all of this?
How many people here got approved their first time?
How many of them have been common-law?
Will they judge my partner and I based on age since he will soon be 20 and I, 19?
What documents did you include with your application to prove the relationship was genuine?

I am just so scared all the time.
Living with this man is the most important thing to me and if they turn it down, I don't know what I will do.

Btw, my partner is the one who is a Canadian citizen and I am from the United States.
Neither of us have any criminal backgrounds, he is working but I am not considering I am living with him right now, he has cystic fibrosis but I have nothing medically wrong with me. He has only been working for a month now and by the time we send the application it will more than likely only be for a few months. Is this long enough?

I just need some help. Can any of you just let me know if what me and him have to offer is enough to satisfy them?
I know none of you officially know but I would just like any opinions I can get.

Everyone in both of our families say we have nothing to worry about but I can't help but to be afraid.

The only advice anyone can give you is to be honest and be thorough.  Getting yourself all worked up is not going to help.  Perhaps it would ease your mind to hire a lawyer or an immigration consultant to prepare your documents.  If you can't afford that (because it tends to be expensive) maybe you can find a consultant or lawyer who will give you a consultatation for free or a fraction of the cost or even do a review of your documents before you submit them.  That might help you.

I wish there was a way to guarantee success but all you can do is improve your chances because, as many of us know, there are no guarantees in immigration.  But, be thoughtful in your presentation.  Include everything relevant that you can think of.  Imagine you are the Visa Officer looking at your file.  What would you want to see to be convinced this is a genuine relationship?  READ all of the guidelines TWICE and then ask questions on forums such as this BUT remember we are just internet folks trying to help out.  We are NOT representing you so double and triple check everything.

Most importantly, calm down.  Mistakes happen when people panic.  Good luck.

I understand your stress and fear to do something wrong.  These days it's not that simply as it sounds. I think you should give your file to a professional (lawyer/CSIC member in Canada) who would provide you with second opinion or, perhaps, take care of your file.  It's true, there is no guarantee in this field, but at least you would be more calm and confident that you did your best. If you need to be referred, let me know. I know one great professional in Toronto.

Hi there.

Don't worry too much.  Read the guides on the CIC website thoroughly.
If you are applying common-law you need proof of cohabitation for a continuous 12 months.
Age shouldn't have much to do with it providing you are old enough to consent of course.
Include the things that prove your relationship; joint lease/bank account statements, (there's a list on the CIC website) also if you don't have much in the way of joint, support your application with other items mailed to you individually at the same address - be sure to explain in a covering letter if you don't have many joint items.  Letters from family and friends seem to go down well too.
Write statements describing your relationship, how it began and the progression.  Show that you are in a committed monogamous relationship which is akin to a marriage.
Just be honest and try to remain calm; rushing or panicking could cause simple errors.  Ensure you sign everywhere you are supposed to  and remember to check everything you need to from the checklist.

You may well need a lawyer but the application is not too difficult; CIC are not trying to trip you up, only to ensure you meet the criteria.

Just be honest in your application and just stay legal. I had to stay legal and correspond to my countrys government and everything went fine. Took us only 8 months to get my PR done. but of course plus the length of your steady and lengthy
relationship. CIC always look out for people who goes into Canada as an easy way in and going into a relationship..however if the relationship is genuine and for some circumstances you should be fine.

I just want to thank all of you so much.
At first I was panicking but with talking to my mom and reading on here, it has given me the confidence that we will get this done. May take some time to get things together but well worth it. Plus it should be smoother sailing from there after getting PR status. Plus you will never know until you submit it and try. Right? Reading this forum really gives me the hope I need and knowing that it will work out fine.

Also, my mom said to me today, something that touched me.
She told me "Something you truly love is worth waiting for."
It isn't the end of our relationship, just a matter of time.
