Client Information Verification by IO

Hi Folks,
Just a quick question: What are the chances of Canadian Immigration actually verifying all the info they are given, If the applicant lives in Sydney, Australia.
The reason I am asking, I have been told by previous PR applicant (he got his PR through wife in 3 and half months, same situation as me) and the reason his one was so quick coz he reckons they didn't both to verify any detail from the actual agencies, and believed everything he provided. And apparently it can get way lengthier if they go through the process of verifying everything, like marriage certificate, criminal record etc...
So do they verifying all and every info re: the client or it's a matter of luck?
Thanks

I believe that it is a matter of luck.
However, it is much much much easier to be HONEST when filling out and sending in your documents. You sleep better, and you never know, you might get and obsessive compulsive IO who checks everything! Why risk it?!

I would ask him how he knows they didn't verify everything. Basically, it's pretty easy for the visa office to verify, just by looking, that your birth certificate, marriage licence, etc., are genuine. They also have what they need to determine whether you are medically admissible, and criminally admissible based on the results of your medical exam and the criminal clearances you provide them. The only thing they really have to "check" is your background - and I believe there is a particular criteria they use to determine how extensive a background check will be. They look at your job history, the types of clubs and organizations you've belonged to, and the schools you attended. If anything in your history sends up a "red flag", I believe they do a more extensive background check on you. If not, you're finished faster.
