Clarification needed for "3111 Specialist Physician" occupation

DEAR ALL, I need your help!!!

I am  from  Armenia. We are (with my husband) planning to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker Class. Currently I am trying to prepare the necessary applications and documents, and I am facing some difficulty with definition for “3111 Specialist Physician” occupation listed as eligible occupation in Ministerial Instructions.
I have graduated from Yerevan State Medical University and received MD in General Medicine in 2002. Afterwards I have involved in Clinical Residency Training in Nephrology (paid 3 year residency training in the hospital). Additionally, I have received Master Degree in Public Health in 2005.

Would you clarify whether 3 year clinical residency in nephrology (years of 2002-2005) is considered as minimal requirement to apply as skilled worker?
 
I would like to mention that I have reviewed the “3111 Specialist Physician” occupation in National Occupation Classification (NOC) of the Canadian Labour Market. In the description part it is stated that “Residents in training to become specialist physicians are included in this group”.
However, if it is possible can you help me to address that question or to refer my question to relevant person/department.

You must have completed your specialty training in Nephrology in order to use NOC 3111 (Specialist Physician),  otherwise apply with NOC 3112 (MD).

All you need is one year experience (in the last 10 years) in one of these 2 NOC to apply.

You better apply fast because rules may change in June -July this year which might raise IELTS requirementes for professionals and might give less points for experience.   They also plan to give less points for older people also.

My advice is apply now with NOC 3112 (if you have 1 year experience),  dont waste valuable time finding out if you can apply as NOC 3111,  it does not matter which one you choose as long as you apply in time.  Both NOC will get you to Canada so why waste time.  

If you need more advice ask Qorax, dont waste time you may not get the necessary points if you wait for rules to change.

Some clarifications is still needed. I completed three year clinical residency in Nephrology (in 2005). After that I have started (since now) to work as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in Health Project Implementation Unit (public health/epidemiology). This occupation is under the 4165 - NOC.  This is not a practical medicine work experience and is not listed as qualifying occupation.

The question is: Can Clinical Residency be considered as work experience, and give me opportunity to apply under the federal Skilled Worker class?

Hi

In most of the countries to be a subspecialist as a nephrologist, you have to have internal medicine speciality. So I think you cant be accepted as a nephrology specialist.

                   All you need to apply for FSW is 1 year experience in 1 NOC on the demand list.  If you have MD degree and 1 year paid work experience as MD,  that is all yu need to apply for FSW.  You also need to reach 67 points on other factors.   You must have completed specialty degree to be eligible as specialist NOC 3111.  It would be much easier for you to just apply as MD NOC 3112.  There is a post here just for doctors if you need more info.

Use any NOC that will get the job done, dont get hung up on a specific NOC.

I am a specialist physician too with FRCS ,of course its residency and after that now 7 yrs post fellowship in Ophthalmology.
As most people advised ,better you apply in 3211,if e.g considering you as Nephrologist,how will you prove your experience after your post graduation ? if you can then ,of course you can be eligible.

I dont think there is any preference. May be someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Also I feel there is some wrong info in this thread. The duties are what are to be similar, not degree. Residents are also in the 3111 category. So the OP can apply as a 3111 if they satisfy the MAIN DUTIES, Plus you can prove that it was PAID.
And the worst that can happen is a refusal, and a refund. So not too much to loose anyways.

I think, that the best way  is to sign
 contract with good immigration lawyer, as Mr Cohen, and you will have true guidlines to follow.
As I can see you will have difficulty to prove your experience as nephrologist, easiest way for you
is to use NOC related to last working experience.
Anyhow, may be immigration consultant will advice something else.

I am not sure why we are all saying that they will have difficulty proving her work as a Nephrologist.

I mean the line to follow is;

- To get work experience letter from Immediate supervisor/hospital MS, explaining duties and details of the department, and some details of the Hospital where she is associated.

- Getting their business cards or writing in a cover letter with their contact details. Specially letter and contact of the professor in-charge of the Nephrology Department.

- And providing proof of salary, that can be in terms of Paychecks, Bank statement showing salary being credited, or a letter from Finance section of the Hospital or Medical Superintendent. Giving details, from when to when you were paid.

I am not sure why you folks are saying its difficult for her to prove the experience. Can you please elaborate.
