I recently returned to the UK after working as an OTR trucker for a Lethbridge AB company.
My question is, can I claim back any of the tax I paid out of my wages, and can I also claim back the training costs which I had to pay to gain a truck driving licence ($2,600).
It seems strange that I had to pay for training, when immigrant nurses,  and Police Officers (for instance) are re-trained at no cost to themselves.

I was employed under the PNP system with a 2yr temporary work permit, but only stayed 5 months.
