Dear Seniors,

If Husband is staying in Canada for more than 3 years (out of 5 years) and his child and wife are staying outside Canada :-

1) Does the Child needs to stay in Canada for 3 years to get Citizenship...?

2) Can wife renew the PR card without staying canada as his husband will be Canadian after 3 years and has become Citizen...?

Appreciate your valuable suggestions..

Regards

The child does not need to meet the residency requirements for citizenship but if the child is older than 14, he or she must attend the oath.  The wife can not renew her PR based on having a husband who is a citizen and is living in Canada but if she still has not lost her PR when he gets his citizenship and he joins her in another country, her days that he is staying with her would could as time spent in Canada towards her PR.

The child has to be a PR and resident in Canada to be included in the parents application.  If the child has lost his/her residency by being outside Canada for more than 3 years, the s/he is ineligible.
