Hey everyone,
My friend applied to CIO -Sydney in February 2010. She received an email from CIO stating that her file is being transferred to the Buffalo, NY office and that she has 120 days to forward her documents. She sent out the documents by May but has not heard back anything since then. Her status on e-CAS shows the following:

We received your application for permanent residence on February 23, 2010.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on April 9, 2010. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

There is no mention of her file being transferred to Buffalo and on emailing the Buffalo Consulate, she received a reply saying that it can take upto 30 (THIRTY) WEEKS for a status update!
Anyone else in this situation or does anyone know why the transfer from CIO-Sydney to the Buffalo Consulate would take so long?

Thanks

It's not the transfer that would take so long.  It's the update to ECAS.  If applicants want to ensure documents were received at the visa post, they should use a trackable method such as courier, registered mail, etc.

Thanks rjessome...
She did send it via Fedex and it shows that it was received by the Buffalo Consulate. The 120 day deadline has passed and she hasn't heard anything so I guess it is ok to assume that they will not close the file and will continue to process the application.

Hi

When the eCas status changes to received by visa office you will be able to see the date the file was transferred to the VO, until then, sit tight and wait.

Peace!!!
