CIC - not in 38 list - never received application fee back from CIC

I have applied to CIC in late 2007 and got rejection as my occupation doesn't belong to new list of 38 occupations. I received a letter saying that my application fee will be returned back. Till now I never received a check and was wondering if anyone in similar situation has received their application fee back.

Please advise my next steps.

Are you sure you applied in 2007?  As only applications from 28/02/08 are effected by the list of "38"  If you meant 2008, then send a letter to the office that cashed you Cheque.

Fax a letter, ensure your name DOB, file no. and address as well as the date you applied are mentioned in the letter.
