chef sous chef work

Hi,
My boyfriend is a trained Sous Chef/Chef with 12 years experience in the UK. We have recently been thinking about emigrating. I was surprised how long it takes for PR, but I have been thinking about the temporary work visa route. So my question is how can he get a job offer? Obviously sites like monster, job bank Canada advertise although I imagine they want to recruit quickly and may not want to wait for the temporary work permit to be issued (does anybody know how long that takes by the way?). Does anybody have any experience of gaining an offer, or know of any chains etc looking to recruit who would be willing to wait?
Also, would I be able to get a work permit on the back of him getting one? I guess we would need to be married for a start! Wink
Thanks in anticipation.

As far as I know, there are no job sites geared only for employers who are looking to recruit foreigners so what you have to do is go to the other ones and try to locate somebody on there who is willing to wait.
If he gets a work permit, you can get an open work permit (not tied to an employer) if you are: a) married to him or b) living with him for 12 months or more (common-law partners).
